Like New

New ideas and trends come around so quickly in all consumer markets, that you can suddenly be left feeling like you’ve got old stock. This is also the case with RVs. You might have bought a new rig last year – or hey – even 20 years ago, but it might be starting to look a bit tired and dated, especially compared to the current ones up for sale.

But just because it is looking a bit dated, it doesn’t mean you should trade it in for a new one. Instead, you can do a few little things to jazz your rig up. After all, isn’t a change as good as a holiday?

Changing the interior colour scheme is one of the quickest ways to breathe new life into your set up. Try re-upholstering the dinette seats, throwing a new doona on the bed, changing the curtains or going for a different kind of curtain.

What about new floor coverings? Perhaps you want to change the colour of the vinyl from a tiled look to a timber look. Or maybe you could put carpet in the bedroom.

How about accents and trims? Things like light coverings, light switches, hooks and handles. By selecting a new range of these products, you can take years off your rig’s life. When it comes to changing anything to do with the lights and electricity, it pays to get it done by an electrician for safety and to make sure the job is certified.

If you’re pretty handy, you could get new cupboard doors throughout the vehicle. Just keep an eye on weights to make sure you aren’t going to alter the rig’s weight.

And there you have it, for the fraction of the cost of a new RV, you’ve given your old one a face lift!
